Consider yourself Lucky, to meet this rattie.

This week we are going to introduce a late rattie but a great rattie.

Lucky

He has passed sadly but his owner Erica still loves him dearly and wants everyone to know how wonderful he was.

Best friends forever!!

Erica was only three years old when she got blessed with Lucky! So he was a big deal in her childhood. Ratties are known for their loyalty and this is another example of how loyal the breed is. He was a gentle soul who was patient with the young child who wanted a live babydoll and a dog was the next best thing. Erica can’t really remember a life before Lucky, maybe she was too young, or the memories Lucky made were just so special. Lucky would let Erica dress him up like a baby doll and feed him from baby bottles full of water. She didn’t need baby alive dolls, she had her own rattie doll to love.

Sadly as Erica’s “number one pal” grew old he was stricken with diabetes. Thankfully this never held Lucky back from showing all the love he could. He never lost that sense of his true rattie self. He was a rat terrier after all, loyal to a fault. He knew the battle was one worth fighting so Erica could have all the happy days with him she could have. Erica says he is her guardian angel and looks after her. She came up with Lucky’s name from the childhood classic 101 Dalmatians movie. One of the dogs was named Lucky and it stuck! Although Erica did mention it was a fitting name just because of how lucky they were to have Lucky.

Nom noms?

 Rattie advice

Rat terriers ears experience wax buildup and most rat terriers need a weekly ear check and cleaning! I didn’t know this!

To easily and safely clean your ratties ears, you only need a few supplies to successfully and safely clean your rattie’s ears: a cotton ball or gauze some dog ear cleaner, and a clean, dry towel. Avoid using cotton-tipped swabs or anything with a pointed tip. These tools can push dirt and debris deeper into your rattie’s ear canal, cause infections, and can even create trauma to the inner structures of the ear itself.

Also monthly nail clippings are necessary to keep the nails short and prevent cracking and splinting on your rattie; ‘s little beanie feet.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.
