Bubba is dying to meet you!

The OG of Ratties of the World!

Hello Rattie family,

It is another lovely Sunday and I hope you are all relaxing with your ratties and watching some football. Just around the corner is thanksgiving so I’m sure you are all getting ready for the time around family.

This newsletter will feature different rat terriers and their stories. For the first E-letter, I would like to introduce you all to my best bud, Bubba.

Hide its the sheriff!

My best friend Bubba

It was October of 2021, my aunt was packing up to leave Florida to move back to Texas. I felt uneasy watching Bubba leave with her after all she didn’t take good care of him. Often scared and timid he was a shell of a dog. I asked her if she would let me take Bubba, and she agreed. That day I made a best friend for life.

Bubba was 4 years old, a little chunky, and scared to death of thunderstorms. Being in Florida that was a problem. I would find him facing corners like he was in trouble when he had done nothing wrong. He would hide under beds and shake uncontrollably. I would lay with him trying to talk him down from his ledge. At first nothing worked, but slowly Bubba felt comfortable and started to leave that shell he was stuck in.

After a few months the once timid and shy dog I once knew was slowly fading away. Bubba was becoming confident, he would play with the other dogs, finding his bark along the way. When I first got Bubba I had never heard him bark. He was a silent dog. 2 years later, I can’t think of a day he doesn’t bark joyfully with his new friends.

Loyal doesn’t begin to describe the relationship Bubba and I share. He follows me everywhere, never letting me leave his sight. He has his own doggie bed in my bed, he gets tons of treats and love. But he makes sure to show the love back.

Thankfully, Bubba no longer hides on the bed, he no longer hides in the corner. He is a confident, smart, and caring best friend. Sometimes leaving me to wonder who rescued who…

I hope everyone has a safe Thanksgiving. Remember no turkey for our ratties!

Thanks for reading

See you soon,

Matthew and Bubba
